Using your 2nd gen wildlife camera

We have designed our range of cameras so they are incredibly easy to set up and use! With WiFi connection and easy set-up, you can start your wildlife watch straightaway. Find out how to install a wildlife camera, remove, and clean it below.

How to put a camera in a habitat

To install your new 2nd gen wildlife camera, follow these simple steps:

  • Choose your camera - Our range of 2nd gen wildlife cameras have a camera display for every need. Do you need a built-in bird box camera, or do you need a standalone camera? Do you need a wired or wireless connection?
  • Test the camera - Ensure the camera is working before you install it!
  • Decide where to put the camera - You may need to drill a hole into your built-in bird box camera to connect the camera to the power and connection cables. If you’re opting for a standalone wildlife camera, make sure you’ve chosen the best place to put it. Think carefully about where the cables will run!
  • Screw on the mount - Our 2nd gen wildlife cameras come with specialised camera mounts, so all you need to do is screw them into a secure place into your home habitat. We recommend installing the camera at the top of the habitat, so you get the best wildlife watch experience.
  • Hide any exposed cables - If any wildlife visitors see the cables, they may think it’s a worm and try to gobble it up! Make sure you cover them up.
  • Connect to your device - Make sure that your camera is connected to your home device, so you can start watching your furry and feathered friends who visit your garden!

How to remove a 2nd gen wildlife camera from a wildlife habitat

It’s good to keep your wildlife camera clean, to protect the animals that come to visit. Here’s how to safely take it down:

  • Check the habitat - Make sure there are no birds, bats or hedgehogs in your home habitat - the last thing you want to do is spook or harm them!
  • Unplug all cables - Disconnect your wildlife camera from its power and signal connection, so that it doesn’t get damaged!
  • Unscrew the mount - Carefully unscrew the camera mount from the wood, trying not to damage the home habitat or dropping the camera on the ground.
  • Remove the camera - Once everything is unplugged and unscrewed, you can safely remove the wildlife camera from the habitat.

How to clean a 2nd gen wildlife camera

It’s important to regularly clean your wildlife camera, just like you would a home habitat, to protect any birds, hedgehogs or any other wildlife that pays you a visit!

To clean your 2nd gen wildlife camera, unplug the camera from any mains power or turn it off, if battery powered. Use a mild antibacterial solution on a cloth to wipe round the camera - avoiding any harsh chemicals that could be toxic to local wildlife. Wipe dry and reconnect.
