Our cameras are often used in education settings, be they classrooms, forest schools, or at home.
To allow educators to get the most from our products, we've developed a series of KS2 lesson plans to accompany our bird box camera kits. These include plenty of activities that help young people explore the natural world and also contribute to important citizen science projects.
While these lesson plans are focused on the topic of birds and the nesting season, we have also collected many other useful KS1 and KS2 learning activities that relate to our other wildlife. Please leave us a message via our contact form below if you would like any more information.
How the lesson plans work:
We have created four lesson guides, lasting ~60 mins, that relate to different stages of the nesting season for garden birds.
The first half of each lesson asks learners to record what they see in the box. Teachers can then add this information to an online portal for a citizen science project called Nesting Neighbours, ran by the British Trust of Ornithology's (BTO).
The second half of each lesson features a creative activity that relate to different parts of the curriculum.
