I’m a new birdwatcher. What kit do I need?

Why won’t my camera plug into my TV?

Not all nest box cameras are compatible with all TVs, all PCs, or all laptops. That’s because the cameras send signals in different ways, some or all of which your device might not be able to pick up on: many modern cameras use wireless WiFi-like signal that older TVs aren’t compatible with, for example. 

That’s what our camcorder accessories are for. We stock AV to HDMI converters and USB video converters that can take signals and make them compatible with devices like older TVs. Take a look through our range and see if there’s a converter for your device that can help.

I can’t connect my nest box camera to mains electricity. What can I do?

If you can’t plug your camera into the mains, consider a Power-over-Ethernet IP camera. These cameras draw power down the network cable, rather than a separate mains cable. We stock a 48v active PoE injector that helps you set up a PoE IP camera even if you don’t have a compatible switch or recorder, and sends power up to 100m down Cat6 or Cat5e cable. 

How do I record more than one camera at once?

The easiest way to record multiple birdbox cameras at once is with an accessory like the Gamut HD DVR. Available in 4 or 8 channel options, this recorder lets you connect up to 8 coax cameras at once in crisp, clear 1080p HD. And with it being plug and play, all you have to do is hook up each camera to the recorder using a BNC connection.
