National Insect Week: Celebrating Nature’s Tiny Titans

Created by the Royal Entomological Society, National Insect Week is dedicated to raising awareness about the vital role insects play in our ecosystems. This year the week-long celebration will run from 23rd to 29th June, where you can get involved with a host of activities including arts events, science trips, exhibitions, photography shows, seminars and more!

Why Are Insects Important?

Insects are nature’s hidden heroes. They pollinate crops, recycle nutrients, and serve as a crucial food source for many animals, especially our nesting birds! Without them, ecosystems would collapse. Yet, insect populations are declining due to habitat destruction, climate change, and pollution. National Insect Week encourages people to learn about these creatures, appreciate their contributions, and take action to protect them.

Throughout Insect Week we will be running special discounts on all our invertebrate habitats, and we will be releasing a new blog post each day, full of interesting insect facts!
